Diary Entry
1.25 pm It's a late start on here for me today! I fell asleep on the couch last night because of my cold, then woke up late this morning. Fortunately it wasn't too late to hand in my paper! It is now in the hands of the School of Law. There's nothing more I can do, so I'm not going to sweat over the result. I think I did pretty well, actually, but I thought I did on my Social Policy exam last year and totally blew it! I passed, but not by a lot!
I've set up my DC forum and tried to recruit members. Simon told me to sign him up, so I did. Thom has joined as well, bless him! I thought he might, he's joined everything I've invited him to. I've been having a ball with it, but now I've got to get started on Criminological Research Methods.
3.12 pm It's a shame I can't quit university and get paid to sit on the internet and write in blogs and play around with forums! Now I'm a moderator in Pete's forum and the admin person in my DC one! Nati has joined, and I made her a moderator in some of the areas. Panda joined too! That's wonderful, I'm really excited. Now if people would just start posting!
I have made a tiny bit of progress on my assignment. I found the research paper I'm supposed to critique and located the central research question. It was the first sentence. I'm terrible. If I fail this one, I definitely deserve to!
7.32 pm I have got to make myself work on my assignment! I spent the afternoon doing a bit on it, but I ended up adding smilies to the forum, and it took a lot longer than I thought it would! The boys have been monsters since I got home from the shop, and I'm feeling so stressed now I think I'm going to go have a Baileys before starting the homework up again! Simon has said he'll take the boys to school in the morning, so I can stay up tonight and work on homework after they're in bed. Then I can go into the shop and let Simon come home, so he can have the monsters here with him and I can work in peace. I'll come home, have a nap if I need one, and get back to work to finish it off after the kids are asleep tomorrow night. That's how it's supposed to work in theory. Let's see if it works in practice.
The forum is up and running, and more people are joining! Caz, Si and Eliza are members now too! And Leeca and Panda joined earlier this afternoon. It's wonderful to not lose touch. I'm so excited! Now I need to get Sandra to join! Oh, and it wouldn't be the same without Lauren either.
11.58 pm I have been working on my assignment! I haven't written the essay yet, but I've got my essay plan formulised, so once I get through the checklist of things I want to put in the final paper, it should be simple to actually write it. I hope so anyway. The thing that gets to me is the tutors who mark our papers always tell us we've left out X, Y and Z. And yet by the time we do all the research for the paper, and include everything up to X, Y and Z, we've reached the word limit! There's only so much we can fit in, but I just assume I've forgotten to include something or didn't have room to write about it.
Ten members on the forum (Sandra joined this evening!), and seven who are posting. It definitely feels like the old forum in a way. Well, we all know each other already, so it's like getting used to meeting every weekend in a particular pub, then suddenly switching to somewhere new. The faces are the same. It just feels a bit odd! I post a lot, but I always did. It's a curse. I run off at the mouth whether I'm speaking to someone face to face or posting on the internet! Okay, I'm the admin person, but only because someone has to be. I'm not going to be a forum police officer unless things get really out of control. I've got a few moderators already to help me out and make it more democratic.
I desperately need some sleep. I think I'll see if I can take a nap and then get some more work done on the essay.
