Tsunami "Victim" Not a Victim

How horrible is this scenario: A man tells his family he is going to Thailand for a while. Then a tsunami strikes, and thousands are killed in Thailand. The man's sons look for him and appeal for information on his whereabouts, but it is presumed that he has been washed out to sea and drowned.

Only then there's the discovery the man never went to Thailand in the first place. He only told his family that to spare them the knowledge he's on his way to spend a bit of time at Her Majesty's Pleasure, aka prison!

This is a true story ...

His poor family! They really thought he was dead. Then again, the man didn't know a tsunami was going to strike. It's not like he took advantage of the disaster to make people think he was dead and start a new life.
