Something About Me #7

After posting the list of 70s flashbacks, I got to thinking about my first kiss. Okay, my first proper kiss was really at a roller skating rink, and his name was David Calvert. I was a late bloomer, so I think I was 16 at the time. Yep, Sweet 16 and never been kissed. Isn't that how the saying goes? He had just graduated from our high school, and I was about to start my junior year. He lived across the alley from me.

But I did have a kiss before that. I think I was 9. My parents had some friends over, and they brought their kids. I know the daughter's name was Tanya, and I think the son was John Jr., but I can't for the life of me remember their last name. My parents would know, but I'm not asking! Oh I remember. It was Archer.

Anyway, we were playing hide and seek, and John and I hid in my closet. The next thing I know, he's kissed me on my cheek. Now, this is something that isn't all that rare nowadays, but to a nine year old, it was trauma! I think the words used to describe my reaction would be "righteous indignation". I was so righteously indignant that I told my father after they left. He just laughed at me.

Maybe if I hadn't been so horrified, I wouldn't have had to wait so long until the next boy wanted to kiss me!
