Growing Reading List
I have four books to add to my reading list now -- and more are expected daily! The French and German language books I ordered to help me get some of the basics before my trip to Europe came this morning, as did one of the "fluffy" romance novels I ordered: Love Only Once by Johanna Lindsey. I read it years ago but found a cheap used copy on Amazon.
My sister Kim sent us a book for Christmas that I'm very interested in reading: Lone Star Nation by H.W. Brands. The cover says, "How a ragged army of volunteers won the battle for Texas independence -- and changed America". I'll give a report once I get started on it. I used to teach American history when I was a teaching assistant at Texas A&M -- Commerce, and my two favourite parts were Texas and the Civil War. Otherwise, I prefer European history.
I love Texas. It's funny how I never seem to get angry when people insult Americans, but I do if they insult Texans. I'm a Texan first. To use a cliche, you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the girl.
