It's GOING!

I've made up my mind. My long hair (too long, in my opinion) is getting the chop. It's too long and too thick. Hairdressers groan at having to cut my hair, which is one of the things that keeps me away, but I don't care. I'm getting it chopped off this week.

This is my hair today:

This is how I want it to look. I know it's not a great pic, but if you watch "Holby City", it's how the character Connie Beauchamp has hers now:

If it doesn't suit me, I won't cry or complain. Believe me, I have hair that grows so fast it'll be down to my backside in no time!

Yeah, I'm sure this hair just gets in your way even though you're on the other side of the planet ...

Oooh, it's liberating! My hair was almost that long a few years ago and I chopped it quite short. Now I'm growing it out again for Locks of Love but I can't WAIT to cut it off. Keep an eye out for me for cute hair cuts for curly-haired goddesses ;)

Believe it or not, I had it chopped to shoulder length about 18 months ago! That's how fast it grows.

Locks for Love sounds interesting. I've never heard of that.

I have a curly haired future goddess (the one I'm training to have "bitchitude" -- I still love that word!) who wants her hair cut short, too, so I'll pass on any gorgeous haircuts she looks at to you!

Hmm. Not sure what to think of that. Well, it's your hair. Personally, I like long hair. Not on myself, mind. My own gets too damned unruly when it gets long.

Somehow I knew you were going to say that. LOL

no more messing around....just a whole box of hairwax and I'm all set ;)

I don't know if you already looked up what Locks of Love is or not, but they are a non-profit organization to which you can donate your hair. Then they use it to make wigs for children suffering from medical hair loss, whose families can't afford to buy them wigs. The only catch is that you have to donate a minimum of 10"...which is a lot of hair if you want to have any left after they cut it off.

Oh that is so cool! I wonder if they would accept a donation of hair from the UK! :-) Do you have a website for it? If not, I'll try to look it up and see if it's possible for me to send it. There's definitely more than 10 inches that's going to be chopped off!

Just out of curiosity more than anything, what does Simon think of this idea?

Locks of Love websiteI didn't see anything specifically about donating from outside the US. I would think you could still just mail your donation to their headquarters in Florida.

Let me know if you need any more info!

Gary, he said that if that's what I want, go do it. So I am. I think he's tired of my hair always getting in the way, and he's definitely sick of finding long brown hairs all over the house! LOL

Thanks Jenni! I will definitely look into that!

Soooo.....how'd the ol' hair choperooni go? Did ya' do it yet? Something I've only ever contemplated once...did it and HATED it!!! I looked absolutely silly unless I "did" my hair and Lord knows I'm just not patient enough for that every day.
BTW - HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!
*BIG hugs*

Thanks Raida! The "chop" is coming tomorrow or Saturday, depending on when I can get in. I'm determined to do it now that Jenni has told me about Locks of Love in her comment above. At least then if I don't like the hair cut, I can comfort myself in the knowledge that something good has come out of it! :-)

I think the style I've picked will be simple for styling when I'm heading off early in the morning -- I am NOT a morning person! Just run my fingers through it with a bit of gel and go. The "in" look is messy anyway. I saw one girl at uni today who looked like Sonic the Hedgehog! LMAO
