Hurricane Rita in Woodville

My dad sent me a link to a Dateline NBC video of Hurricane Rita in Woodville, Texas. Woodville is like my second hometown. I lived most of my life, before moving to England, in Garland, but I spent all my summers at my grandmother's house in Woodville. I was stunned to see just how badly it was affected by the storm.

I was born in Woodville, we moved to Houston when I was five but kept our house there. Almost every weekend of my life since then, I have been to Woodville to visit my grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousins, and friends. When we heard about the hurricane, we fled to Woodville hoping we would get away. But the hurricane took a turn and we were stuck. 47 pine trees were knocked down in our yard, just missing the house, blocking us in the driveway. My grandparents are still stuck there with no gas or electricity. I don't know how they're doing it, I couldnt handle living like that for the 3 days i was there. They are told it could be a month before they have power again, and we are bringing them gas this weekend.

I hope things go well for your family there. I haven't had any recent news on my grandmother, but I guess no news is good news. My parents had plans to go down there this weekend, at least before Rita struck. Now they know they can get down there, but with no gas, they probably couldn't get home again, and my mom has to go to work Monday.
