Today's Day Trip with the Little Monsters

Last week, which was the first week of the kids' summer holidays, was rainy and not fit for spending much time outside, but so far this week has been pretty nice. Today I took the boys to Creswell Crags, which isn't very far from here, but I've never been there. In fact, Simon's never been there, and he's lived in this area all this life.

I'm not sure what exactly Ricky and Jack expected. We went through the little museum, which had displays showing what Ice Age life would have been like at Crewell Crags. Jack especially loved the old bones, especially the hyena skull. I bought them each a notebook, a pencil and a disposable camera so they could explore, take pictures and write what they saw.

For some reason (thanks to television, I'm guessing) they were looking for dinosaur remains, but they didn't seem to disappointed that they didn't find any. We had such a good time, we booked a tour of one of the caves for Friday morning!
